Mental Wanderings

I took a little trip today in my mind. Not a lot going on at work, so I was doing some daydreaming as well as mental planning my next steps to take to make my two (2) resolutions a reality in 2009. Both involve me starting up a business. 2 different ones in fact is the goal. One a writing / creation / publishing company in my main hobby field, the other a non profit to help other veterans and people in between work and especially to obtain degrees and training to be more competitive.
So while talking to someone I got a lead on potential free legal advice, would make the non-profit a lot easier to start up. Otherwise a simple LLC is the route to start with on that one. A DBA is the other one. So I was wandering in my mind deciding how to go about this, getting some more information and encouragement at the synchronicity of getting that information.
It is coming together easier than I had expected it to do so.
In a day or so making 2 new blogs, one for each of the businesses, to use for inspiration, tracking, making it into a reality. Of course I will need to get Analytics and Adsense running right on my other ones here to make sure it is all flowing and doing the best for me as is possible. Just a few small semi-technical challenges to overcome.

So my current tribes in action include
* Gaming Working doing some advertising for this online game magazine www.weredragonmag.com
* Looking into what it might take to create a Foundation to seek out funding and aid in grant making as well
* Working to start a Community to improve the overall life in a distributed fashion among people with the same hobby as me
* Considering starting up a non-profit. Not sure if it will be an incorporated one or not. Still deciding if I will or will not do so.
Those are the highlights at this time.

It begins. I broached the idea to my wife last night. The one of me starting up a non-profit. Finally she said to me, to stop talking about it. Kinda funny. So today I grabbed sample Charter and Declaration of Trust from the IRS site, So I have started editing it for me. I sent an email off to the State Department asking a few questions, calling the City Government tomorrow to find out what they say. Not sure if I file for IRS first, the State, then City or what is the correct order.
But I have begun my voyage to becoming a non-profit and helping others more than just on my own.
More as it develops.
